ALPINE ā Following a tragic event that rocked the Covey family ā the loss of their oldest daughter to the effects of depression ā an equine therapy program was born to help other young women work to overcome the various struggles in their life.
Bridle Up Hope was developed to help empower women and girls ā whether it be a mental health crisis or simply to help build confidence.
It blends the healing power of horses with the proven principles of “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” to create life-changing experiences for girls and women.
“Bridle Up Hope was designed to build hope, confidence and resilience in young women,” founder Sean Covey said. “This is a place of healing, it’s a place of confidence-building, it builds hope. It’s amazing what a horse can do for a girl.”
Since its inception, Bridle Up Hope has expanded to 13 different locations and has helped more than 4,000 women and girls, but Covey said he hopes “to get to the point where they’re doing 100,000 a year.”
“For me, I’ve always believed in not needing to change your environment to change the way you feel in your life, and I believe something like this ā this program ā is so impactful because it teaches you that you can change you, you can be better, you can be stronger,” Britain Covey said. “And regardless of what’s happening in your life, in your environment, you can be strong, you can lead your life, you can be happy.”
