ST. GEORGE ā After being acquitted of felony DUI during a trial in February, a Hurricane man was sentenced on other charges related to a crash that injured two teenage girls on State Street in Hurricane in November 2021.
David Chad Garner, 55, appeared April 3 for sentencing at 5th District Court in St. George on one misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended license. Garner pleaded guilty to this charge during a trial in February, in which the jury’s verdict acquitted the defendant of third-degree felony DUI but found him guilty of two traffic infractions: failing to yield to a pedestrian and a windshield violation.
On the morning of Nov. 23, 2021, two teenage girls were struck by a pickup truck as they were crossing the street at the intersection of State Street and South 300 West in Hurricane, as previously reported by St. George News.
One of the teens was transported in serious condition by ambulance to St. George Regional Hospital. The other teen was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle and treated for minor injuries, authorities said at the time of the incident.
