MOAB — A Moab man was charged Monday with abusing an elderly resident at the senior care center where he worked.

Michael Bryan Sudbury, 58, is charged in 7th District Court with forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony; abuse of a vulnerable adult, a class A misdemeanor; and lewdness, a class B misdemeanor.

Sudbury is accused of abusing a 93-year-old woman at the Canyonlands Care Center, 390 Williams Way in Moab. The woman’s family had set up a camera in her room and recorded Sudbury inappropriately touching the woman in a series of six videos, according to charging documents.

The family contacted police, who then reached out to the head administrator at the facility. The administrator told officers she had already placed Sudbury on administrative suspension, pending an internal investigation, and that he would be fired, according to a police booking affidavit.

Sudbury was arrested last week after being questioned by police.
