SALT LAKE CITY — A Pennsylvania man accused of transporting more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana and marijuana products is facing several charges in Utah.

Mark A. Brown, 41, of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with two counts of marijuana possession over 100 pounds, a second-degree felony; three counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, a third-degree felony; and following another vehicle too closely, an infraction.

On Nov. 11, Brown was pulled over on I-80 in Salt Lake County for following another vehicle too closely, according to a police booking affidavit. A police K-9 was called to the scene to check for the possible presence of drugs.

The vehicle was searched after the dog gave a positive indication of drugs. Troopers found 127 pounds of marijuana, 875 pounds of THC edibles and eight THC vape cartridges, according to charging documents. The affidavit further states that the 875 pounds of edibles consisted of approximately 4,600 packages contained in 46 boxes.

A warrant was also served on Brown’s phone which revealed messages discussing drug transactions, the charges allege.
