SALT LAKE CITY — A woman is in critical condition after her motorcycle was struck by a car in Salt Lake City Friday.
About 6:50 p.m., a truck was turning left off of State Street to 1300 South when the driver hit the brakes and a northbound motorcyclist slammed into the truck, Salt Lake City spokesman Yaier Javaid said. Details on what caused the truck driver to step on the brakes was not available.
When officers arrived, they located a woman in her 30s on the ground with “potentially life-threatening injuries,” Salt Lake City police said in a statement. The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Further details about the crash were not immediately available, but police said impairment does not appear to be a factor.
Both directions of U.S. 89 were closed after the crash at 1300 South.
